Glow In The Dark and Reflective Safety Signs
We know as well as you do that health and safety has it's challenges, but when there's reduced visibility due to the weather, dark environments, and other conditions, managing risk becomes ten times harder.
Aside from being a legal requirement, correct and compliant safety signage is an integral component of any risk management strategy during everyday conditions, so there's no exception when it comes to working with reduced visibility. How do you see your safety signs in the dark? It's actually very simple.
There are two main ways in which you can make your safety signs seen:
Photoluminescent Signs
Reflective Signs
So what's the difference between the two?
Photoluminescent signs are made from a specially designed "self-charging" material that absorbs the protons from visible light, ultra-violet light and infrared radiation and then re-emits them to create a glowing effect.
Reflective signs, as the name suggests, do not absorb light, but rather reflect it when a light source is shone upon it. They're made using highly reflective vinyl.
What are their uses?
Both types of signs are incredibly versatile and work extremely well in darker environments.
Safe condition signs such as fire exits, fire action notices, and assembly points are often made from photoluminescent material to ensure they are still seen should lighting be compromised in the event of a fire.
If you drive, you've come across reflective signs before. Chevrons, speed limit signs, roundabout signs, and more are made from reflective vinyl.
